It's the most wonderful time of the year. I love the Christmas season with a passion. I love the lights, the coziness, the emphasis on thinking of others and spending time with the people you love. Isn't it funny, then, how easy it is to miss all of that in the hustle and bustle?
I realized these past few weeks that while what I love about Christmas is the slowness and the quality time, I instead find myself wrapped up in endless shopping trips and activities with no time to sit quietly in front of the Christmas tree we so carefully decorated. I want to slow down - to really savor what the essence of this season is: Love - and to share that with my friends and family.
Time with loved ones often happens in the form of events, parties, dinners, and brunches this time of year, and I couldn't help but love the luxe feel of this velvet skirt from Madewell. It could easily be dressed up for an evening event with some heels and a beautiful blouse, or styled for a more casual daytime vibe with OTK boots and a flirty cropped top, like I did here. This silk top is Madewell, too, and one of my favorite recent editions! I can't stop pairing it with my high-waisted jeans for daytime activities (my current favs are this dark wash pair and this perfectly distressed one).
