FALL FASHION: ELABORATE TOPS

One of my favorite ongoing trends right now is the elaborate top. You know the ones I'm talking about. Big sleeves, ruffles, bows... it's a wearable work of art, and one you'd think that, as a busy mom, I'd pass right by. But that's the beauty of this trend: it's a single piece you slip on, and you've made a statement. It doesn't get much more effortlessly stylish than that.

If you've been following me for a while, this is old news to you, but for my recent readers (hello!! glad to have you!), I shop for clothes mainly at two places, and about 75% of the time, that place is Express. I love their clothes. They always stay on-trend, but have items that are timeless enough to integrate into your wardrobe for the long run. Everything is well made from quality materials, and with the coupons and reward program, you really can't go wrong!

Top: Express | Shorts: Express | Shoes: Express | Bag: Coach | Sunnies: Prada | Necklace: Stella & Dot

I found this top during one of my weekly walk-throughs, and once I slipped into it, I knew it was coming home with me. One zipper and a quick bow later, and I looked so done up with little effort!

Another purchase from that trip is this gorgeous little pair of black shorts with the scalloping detail. Every girl needs some "dress shorts" in her closet, and these are the perfect understated statement shorts.

Surprisingly (or not?) my shoes are also from Express! I rarely buy shoes that aren't Steve, Sam, or Stuart, but I was swayed by the camel color (lacking in the Steve Madden line) and these have turned out to be the most comfortable pair of heels I own!

I finished the look off with this stunning Stella & Dot necklace, that can be worn 5 different ways (I love a piece that does double, triple, quadruple...quintouple? duty!) and my Coach Rogue in Pebble Leather.
