STYLE THE BUMP: 2nd TRIMESTER

Hands down, second trimester is the most fun when it comes to dressing the bump. In addition to finally looking pregnant instead of bloated (1st Tri!) and being in the stage before you turn into a land-locked whale (3rd Tri!), you also get some energy back. While I personally found the "you'll feel like yourself again" to be false (I mean, I could literally feel that there was another human in my body!), my energy levels went up, my hormones became much more stable, and I wanted to be moving again. Like most people said, second trimester really was the best I felt all pregnancy.

Second trimester is a great time to start investing in some maternity pieces in addition to your sized-up non-maternity items. Here are my favorite tips and tricks for fun, functional and flattering 2nd Tri style.

1) THINK LONG

This trimester is the one where I started to really appreciate the ability to have something long and flowy up top for a few reasons. First, if it's an open, long piece, it's so much fun to have the bump peaking out! Second, it covers the booty. and even if yours isn't getting bigger, I'll bet you that many of you, like me, will loose perkiness and gain width (thanks, Relaxin! You're such an awesome hormone) during this stage, and having something to cover your less than stellar parts is a gift! I especially loved cardigans from Pink Blush and long, loose tanks during this time.

2) BALANCE IS KEY

I found that the key to a stylish bump look was keeping things in balance. If I was wearing skinny jeans or leggings, a loose top was my go-to. In contrast, if I was wearing a relaxed bottom, I made sure to wear something that hugged my curves up top. All snug made me feel self conscious (unless it was a killer body-con dress!), and all loose just made me feel frumpy.

3) A SIMPLE, CHIC DRESS IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA

My go-to in second trimester, and what I've been living in through the remainder of my pregnancy, is dresses. I love a good maxi, a curve-loving bodycon, or a fun, flirty A-line. The best part? You're comfortable, and all you need is a cute pair of shoes (I lived in wedges!) and some chic accessories to look pulled together.

In a nutshell, this is the best trimester to play around and just have fun! You'll only spend a few months of your life with these curves, so take some time and enjoy them.
