CASUAL MAMA

Casual is my J-A-M these days. Thanks to days full of blogging, meetings, working on the nursery, doctor appointments (need I go on?), I've found that comfort trumps all else most days.
Fortunately, one of the things I picked up during my time in San Francisco was the ability to make comfort chic by adding multiple layers, different textures, functional accessories, and spending a few extra $$ where they count. This cozy athleisure look is the perfect example.

Top: SheIn | Jeans: H&M Mama | Shoes: Adidas | Sunnies: Similar | Bag: Nordstrom | Watch: Guess | Scarf: similar
My biggest "splurge" here was the shoes, and even they are reasonable (they're on sale, and currently come in under $55!). I find that going name brand is always worth it in the shoe department. You really do get what you pay for, and the comfort that comes from a name-brand pair of sneakers is worth every penny and then some.

My sweater and jeans are the definition of comfort, with the stretchy material on the bottom (gotta love maternity pants!) and the loose, soft cotton of the top. And bonus? The top has this adorable open-back detailing, which is so much fun!

I went monochromatic and added dimension with the scarf. A good blanket scarf is so versatile. I own several from Express, and they were worth the splurge (an Express scarf runs around $40-$50).

Finally, the functional accessories. I find that on errand day, anything that is cute without a purpose just weighs me down. I picked up this oversized, reversible tote during my SF days, and love that I can stash purchases, returns, snacks.. EVERYTHING!... in it while I'm running around. I also think the watch adds the perfect amount of bling, and a quick glance at my wrist for the time helps with meetings, especially when I don't want to dig my phone out of it's clutch in the giant tote!

Do you have any favorite pieces for your casual days? Where do you splurge vs. save?
