I've said it before and I'll say it again (many times, I'm sure!) I may live elsewhere right now, but I will always be a California girl.

There's just something about the California lifestyle and culture that, no matter where we travel or live, is part of me. Here are just a few things I love about being from CA:

1) Everything is about effortlessness and convenience.
Restaurants, retail, lifestyle... it's all about getting where you need to go and being where you want to be with minimal stress and inconvenience. The goal is to move easily, and quickly, through life, and it's glorious.

2) We aren't always nice, but we are always real.
You never have to wonder if a California girl likes you. We'll tell you if asked. It's not as socially smooth as some places (like in the south, EVERYONE is nice all the time!), but you never wonder where you stand with someone from California. Whether we love you or not, we let you know.

3) We have strong opinions, but are generally really tolerant of other's beliefs and thoughts.
I think one of the things I miss most about living in California is the freedom to think differently without it being taken personally. Politics, religion, sexual orientation - I have so many close friends who I don't agree with - and that's okay - I love that.

4) The weather is perfection.
It's no joke. Coastal California is where I grew up and lived until our move to Texas in January, and it's always between mid-50's and low 90's (at the extremes!). I grew up on the beach, and the ocean is still where I feel the most like myself.

5) It's Home.
Finally, no matter where life takes G and I, California will always be home. I love coming from the West Coast (#bestcoast!), and can't wait for "someday" when our life leads us back home.

What are some of your favorite things about your home state??
