Sometimes, one of my favorite things to do to bring focus to a new piece I love is to build a monochromatic (but textured!) backdrop for it to stand out against. When G bought me this necklace from Madewell in response to us getting some exciting news (which we'll share with all of you in mid-October after it's all squared away!) I knew I wanted to give it a backdrop to shine against.
I chose all black because all black is my favorite. It's simple, chic, classic, and slightly edgy (recognize my words?). I slipped into my favorite, ridiculously comfy distressed pair of jeans from H&M, the softest t-shirt, and my newest bootie addition at the time: These mules from Dolce Vita.
I have to take a moment to rave about the shoes. They're my first pair of DV, and they are amazing. The softest leather I've ever had the pleasure of slipping my feet into. I wore them all day the first time I took them out, and they didn't rub or pinch anywhere. ON DAY ONE. Guys, that's HUGE. And between the squishy-soft inner sole and the slight elasticity that you can feel in the heel each time you step, they were delightfully like wearing chic slippers. Oh, and did I mention they're currently less than $120? I would grab them ASAP! They run TTS.
Okay, back to this necklace. I love the way the necklace is actually a lariat, and you can pull the smaller bit of the knot down to adjust the length and style. It creates a wide variety of looks, and it's so simple, but so chic.
I finished off the look with a few other metallic accessories, including some silver mirrored sunnies and my favorite silver watch from Guess.
If you're looking for some metallics to pop against your neutrals this fall, check out my post from Tuesday! I rounded up a few of my favs this season.
