FALL MUST-HAVES

Fall is fast approaching (at least, this girl hopes it is! I'm so over the hot, humid summer of Houston!) and with Fall comes the wardrobe re-vamp. There are so many trends that are emerging this season that it's almost overwhelming to figure out how to incorporate them all. But don't worry, Reader. I'm going to spend September walking you through all the trends and how to make them work for you!
In preparation, I highly recommend you read my "Building the Perfect Wardrobe" series (Part I, Part II, Part III) so you have your style sense figured out before we wade into the sea of leopard and velvet and buckles (Oh my!).
With so many new styles to try, I thought it would be helpful to have a sort of "Fall Additions Capsule" to reference. So here it is! My top five must-have items for your fall wardrobe.
1) BACKPACK PURSE
This fall seems to be about embracing a more effortless, on-the-go vibe, and the backpack purse is perfect for running around with hands free ease. One of the best things about this season's BPP is the chic styling upgrade it has undergone since the 90's. You can expect clean lines and gorgeous details.

1 Hare & Hart| 2 Michael Kors | 3 Kate Spade | 4 Tory Burch
2) SOMETHING LEOPARD
Leopard print is back in a big way, but you don't have to wear tons of it. In fact, leopard is one of my favorite not-so-basic neutrals (think about it: camel, black, maybe some soft brown.. all very neutral). I personally love the idea of a small crossbody with a touch of leopard print as an embellishment, or a slim belt. If you want to splurge, I DIE over this Clare V clutch.

3) SLIM BOOTIES
From Stuart Weitzman to Steve Madden, slim-fit ankle booties are everywhere. While I was sorely tempted to splurge on the Weitzman booties during NSale, I refrained and instead found some at Zara and Steve Madden that will be joining my fall collection

1 Zara | 2 Stuart Weitzman | 3 Steve Madden
4) MOCK NECKLINE
Rather it's a sleeveless top or a sweater dress, you need a mock neck in your life this fall. I personally picked up this camel colored dress from Express, and think it's safe to say I'm in love.

1 Express | 2 Express | 3 Express | 4 Milly Bell
5) STATEMENT METALLICS
Fall 2016 is all about the subtle pop, and I love the touch of edge and elegance that a good metallic can bring to any outfit. I really like the idea of a shoe, a clutch, or even a mini skirt in a metallic to brighten up those cloudy days.

1 Rebecca Minkoff | 2 Le Spec | 3 Zara | 4 Guess
BONUS: MIXED MATERIALS
Suede & Leather are everywhere together right now. I'm especially loving the combo on boots, bags, and outwear.
