WNTW: ANKLE STRAPS

This post contains affiliate links

Happy Tuesday, Reader! Welcome to the first of my What Not To Do (WNTD) posts! Since it is National Shoe Day (can I get an AMEN!?), I thought we'd start off with one of my favorite trends that I *should* be avoiding: The Ankle Strap.

In addition to my Steve Madden LeCrew flats, which I frequently (read: almost solely) tie around my ankles, two of my favorite pairs of heels have ankle straps: a gorgeous pair of floral sandals from Target ages ago (based off this Steve Madden shoe) and these black and white Rock N' Republic heels:

I think the most important thing for a petite girl wearing ankle straps is to make sure that your legs don't get cut off. To make this happen, I often pair them with culottes, cuff my jeans, or wear a skirt/dress that is either high-waisted and long or a mini. I also tend to opt for a thicker ankle strap, because it gives the illusion of a longer ankle, which in turn elongates your legs.

While my shoe is no longer available (I've literally had it since 2009!), I've linked a few of my favorite current ankle straps for you to shop on the side panel!

Happy Rule-Breaking!
