STYLE | PLAID BLAZER STYLING GUIDE

Blazers are one of my favorite wardrobe pieces. They add instant structure and sophistication to any look. My favorite over this past year has been my plaid blazer - it's classic and adds interest to any outfit for one simple reason: it's a pattern. Here are 5 of my favorite ways to style it:

1) ALMOST MONOCHROME

I love doing a full monochrome look then topping it off with a coordinating plaid blazer.

Pro tip: Show some skin if its warmer! It adds a lot of interest to a look. My favorite is ribcage - it's like a less risqué pre-toned belly! :-D

2) PREPPY ROCKER

Throw a plaid blazer on instead of a moto jacket with your band tee and combat boots for an instant preppy twist.

Pro tip: Match the colors in your band tee with the colors in your plaid for a more sophisticated look.

3) DISHEVELED PREP

I love structure, but I'm not stuffy - that's why I like being ever so slightly frumpy if I'm wearing something classic like a blazer and trousers.

Pro tip: I love a t-shirt or relaxed/slightly unbuttoned blouse paired with high-waisted, pleated, wide-leg trousers for this look. It's the perfect amount of frump. Alternatively, wear a more structured top & bottoms, then add combat boots!

4) KEEP IT SHORT

It stays warm here well into October, so I often layer my blazer over shorts.

Pro tip: Add interest here with dynamic shoes. Some of my favs are these booties, these heels, or these flats.

5) PATTERN PLAY

Layering this blazer up with other patterns is such a fun way to instantly become a fashionista ;)

Pro tip: Pair it with an unstructured pattern like florals or animal prints. Since plaid is a structured print, it plays really well with something more haphazard.
