One of the first things I did when we moved to Houston was start hunting down coffee shops, and honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by how many there are that are not chains! While I frequent many of them, I've decided to share my top three:
1) BOOMTOWN COFFEE (242 W. 19TH STREET HOUSTON | TEXAS)

I love their coffee. The space is casual, artsy, and really laid-back. Perfect for relaxing with a friend and having a casual chat. I don't work here much (a bit noisy for that, in a fun way), but I always stop in when I'm in the neighborhood (and fun fact, they also own The Honeymoon Cafe, which is an Instagram dream!)
My order: Vanilla Latte (theirs is so good it's life changing) and two potato, egg & cheese tacos
2) A 2ND CUP (1111 E. 11TH STREET HOUSTON | TEXAS)

They not only have an amazing cup of coffee, but this coffee shop comes with a purpose: A 2nd Cup's mission is to raise awareness about the human trafficking issues in Houston and support organizations that help create a second chance for survivors. You all know how near & dear to my heart human trafficking is, so this place is easily one of my favorite to frequent.
My order: Americano and a breakfast panini
3) TOUT SUITE (2001 COMMERCE STREET HOUSTON | TEXAS)

This place has three locations in Houston - the main spot (address above), an outpost in Memorial City Mall (TSMemorial) and SWEET (City Centre). I'm a frequent visitor to the Memo & City Centre locations in particular, but love to hit the main location if I have time to sit for a while without Evie! Hands down the best Flat White I've ever had, and I'm obsessed with their macarons (rose and honey lavender are my favs!).
My order: Flat white and avocado toast
Let me know if you try any of them, and what you think! And if you're in Houston, hit me up! I'm always game to grab a cup of coffee <3
