ROMANTIC STAYCATION

This post was written in collaboration with Four Seasons Hotel Houston. I was provided with compensation in return for my honest review.

On October 5th, G and I celebrated two years of marriage. It's crazy how quickly year number two flew by. The first year actually felt like a year, but this year? It disappeared in a blink. When we were discussing what we wanted to do to celebrate, we had originally been kicking around trips out of the country, but once we found out we had a little one on the way, we decided it made since to do something closer to home.

When we first moved here in January from San Francisco, I had a hard time adjusting to life in suburbia. We had lived in the city before, and the sheer lack of noise, activity, and high-rises was a real struggle for this city girl. Ever the thoughtful husband, G planned a weekend of shopping and city-dwelling for my birthday in February, and that is when we stayed at Four Seasons Houston for the first time.

Located downtown near the House of Blues, Minute Maid Park, and Toyota stadium, the hotel boasts prime location, and even has a car that goes to the Galleria (the best shopping mall in Houston) on the weekend. Not that you ever need to leave. With the recently upgraded outdoor pool, brand new spa, and amazing restaurants, you could spend days enjoying every little pamper-perfect detail the hotel has to offer.

I think that those details are exactly why G and I keep coming back. It's those little luxuries that make you relax, unwind, and really feel spoiled. Some of my favorites are the turn-down service, the plush robes and slippers, and the Nespresso that they provide in-room for you to make your own cup of coffee (no single-cup makes from the 90's here!).

We also LOVE getting breakfast in bed. Their coffee service alone is worth writing home about, and don't get me started on the fresh squeezed OJ or the french-press loose leaf tea!

In fact, G and I are already planning our next trip back! in January 2017, the hotel will be re-opening their completely renovated lobby and lounge. The best part about this? They'll be adding a restaurant called Bayou and Bottle, which boasts a high-end, bourbon-centric menu. They'll have a Bourbon Baroness on hand, who can guide you through their extensive offerings, and if you fall in love you can even get yourself a Bourbon Locker to store all your personal favorites. It goes without saying that we both can't wait for the restaurant, and once I have this little one in May, we'll both be enjoying the bourbon!

So if you're looking for a place to get away in Houston, give the staff at Four Seasons a call. There's a reason we go back again and again, and I think you will, too.
