RECIPE BOX: TACO SEASONING

If I ask G what he wants for dinner, I can guarantee you that 99.9% of the time, his answer will be tacos. They're his favorite. And, having spent 29 years of my life as a So Cal native, anything mexican is my happy place.

I grew up using ground turkey and Lawry's Taco Seasoning with my mom, and while I still use ground turkey (I prefer the texture and the fat content to that of ground beef!), I have started to make my own taco seasoning. I love being able to control everything that goes into it, including the salt content and the heat level. G and I like ours spicy! If you prefer less heat, scale back on the Cayenne! It's the spiciest ingredient in here. And don't skip the corn starch! It makes the coating on the meat perfection.

Taco Seasoning

Ingredients

2 TBSP Chili Powder

1TBSP Ground Cumin

1 tsp Corn Starch

2 tsp Salt

1 1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika

1 tsp Ground Coriander

3/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper

Directions

Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly. To use on taco meat, add 1/4 to 1/2 C water to the meat, then sprinkle liberally with seasoning (more or less to your taste!). Stir until coated and let simmer down for 3-5 min.

That's it! Enjoy!
